M2T is the original raw footage from an HDV tape, you can use MPEG-STREAMCLIP or VLC PLAYER to quickly view it. HDVxDV also has an excellent transcoder in which you can convert in near real-time your M2T's over to whatever format you want (ProRes 422) *********************************************** PERIAN - "Must-have" for codec support - www.perian.org *********************************************** MPEG-STREAMCLIP www.squared5.com (This program can take M2T's and transcode them to whatever codec you like) - Supports Batch encoding (and you can set limits to file sizes which is great when uploading to places like youtube) - JKL functions (Like FCP!) - Can output to virtually any format (if you have the codecs installed, INSTALL PERIAN!) *********************************************** ISHOWU - Screen capture program - http://www.shinywhitebox.com/home/home.html *********************************************** VLC PLAYER - www.Videolan.org (A "Swiss Army knife" video player) *********************************************** VIMEO - www.vimeo.com Offers free HD quality hosting *********************************************** Youtube video download helpers (Tons of free sites on the net offer this service). http://www.downloadyoutubevideos.com/ www.vixy.net You can then use MPEG-STREAMCLIP to convert the downloaded files to a usable/editable format (example: DV) ********************************************** This is an EXCELLENT tutorial on how to download youtube videos: http://www.perian.org/#watch It's the video at the bottom entitled: How to download a Flash Video file from YouTube and open with QuickTime Player: Put Your Name Here 4 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080219223458408 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080219223458408 Tue, 19 Feb 2008 22:34:58 +0200 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080219223458408#comments TOFCPUG Members Click 'Edit' below to edit this post to include your member profile. - Insert job title & company/employer or area of focus - How long you've been using Final Cut Pro - Your FCP proficiency level (i.e. beginner, intermediate, advanced) - Projects you are or have worked on - Contact info & what you'd like to be contacted about Put Your Name Here 2 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080219221531250 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080219221531250 Tue, 19 Feb 2008 22:15:31 +0200 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080219221531250#comments TOFCPUG Members Click 'Edit' below to edit this post to include your member profile. - Insert job title & company/employer or area of focus - How long you've been using Final Cut Pro - Your FCP proficiency level (i.e. beginner, intermediate, advanced) - Projects you are or have worked on - Contact info & what you'd like to be contacted about There is power in numbers, so let's work together to get what we want! http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080116190400910 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080116190400910 Wed, 16 Jan 2008 19:04:00 +0200 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20080116190400910#comments General News Please write to Quantum and ask them to make a Firewire/USB 2 LTO-3 backup system with OSX software to enable Final Cut Pro users an easy/efficient way to backup their video files. http://www.quantum.com/AboutUs/ContactUs *********************************** Please write to Cineform and express your interest/suggestions over the Cineform HDMI recorder (A device which enables 4:2:2 uncompressed recording on any camera that supports HDMI): http://www.cineform.com/products/CineFormRecorder.htm direct e-mail: productinfo@cineform.com Freelance Broadcast Edtitor http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20071130164921114 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20071130164921114 Fri, 30 Nov 2007 16:49:21 +0200 http://tofcpug.com/article.php?story=20071130164921114#comments Job Postings Broadcast Editors (contract opportunities)
Award-wining LCBO corporate broadcast production team in downtown Toronto requires video editors for contract work on an occasional basis.
We need editors with significant broadcast and/or agency experience, who are strategic thinkers with a passion for design. Video presentation by Brad Fortner of what he saw at NAB. 3. Bob McKenzie for York University gave a presentation on: “Where are the Eyeballs?” Basically he gave an overview on how it is important to understand how the media is being used and the importance of understanding how it is being accessed. He spoke as to how most people today have mobile telephones and to how people are now moving on to devices like MVP players. At York University many professors now have lectures available to download online often with notes. Students can then use these new devices to access this material and efficiently use their travel time etc. to work on their studies. His example that York has approximately 1400 buses a day come to the campus making it the busiest bus terminal not directly attached to a subway system. That is a lot of passengers (eyeballs) with time to use. His presentation was to open our minds to the possibilities out there to use these medias to grab the public eye. Also, he emphasized is the need to stay current with technological advancements. Many of the NAB announcements confirmed these ideas. 4. NAB Panel The following members reviewed what they saw at NAB 2007 and answered questions: Tim Martin - Frameblender Inc Terry Steyn - The DV Shoppe Bob Mckenzie -York University Brent Broadhurst- Apple Canada Most interest was regarding updates on the new RED camera. Last Thursday night (April 19) thieves broke into the facility and made off with a variety of shooting gear, including two, new Panasonic high def cameras (an HDX 900 and an HVX 200), a high end wireless mic, a mini-disc recorder and various accessories. Total value of the stolen gear is just south of $100,000. Anyone who learns of any information that might lead to the recovery of the stolen equipment is strongly encouraged to contact CSV. Who knows? Maybe a reward's in the offing. The Toronto video production world should likely take security precautions, as they too are vulnerable to the actions of nefarious individuals like those who hit CSV. After all, if they're so low as to steal from a community oriented organization that looks to help emerging media artists, train FCP and Avid editors and encourage do-it-yourselfers, then they won't hesitate to rip off the small businesses and freelancers that characterize the FCP world. Again, if you learn of any production that strikes you as suspicious in any way--like their shooting gear is conveniently free and remarkably like that taken from CSV-- contact either the organization or the police.
